Disc Dryer for Calcium Carbonate
Category: Chemical industry
QUANPIN disc drying uses heated trays and rotating rake arms for continuous calcium carbonate powder processing.
Case Details
Calcium Carbonate Materials
Calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) occurs in limestone, calcite, chalk and marble. It is alkaline, poorly soluble in water and reacts with acids.
Roles and Uses
Uses include building materials, paper, coatings, food ingredients, calcium supplements and laboratory chemistry; grade and suitability depend on the intended application.
Working Principle
Wet feed passes across alternating small and large hollow discs. Rake blades move it outward and inward through successive levels. Steam, hot water or thermal oil heats the discs; vapor exits above and dried solids discharge below. Condensation, dust collection and other auxiliaries depend on the process.
Material and Process Review
Disc drying uses a series of drying surfaces arranged within the equipment. The heating arrangement, material movement and discharge requirements need to be defined for the material. Review the continuous disc dryer using representative slurry drying trials; conductive drying performance in indirect contact dryers depends on material contact, sticking and discharge behaviour.
Provide feed composition, initial and final moisture, throughput, temperature limits, utilities and cleaning requirements so QUANPIN can define the project operating conditions.
